From Parcells and draft picks, to Belichick leaving the Jets at the alter. The strained relationship between the NYJ organization and the NE Pats has seemed to take it one step further. Videogate is all the talk in the two cities and it even prompted a NY newpaper to put an asterisk next to the Pats 2-0 record referencing a footnote "caught cheating".
Since then NYJ have been thrown out in front of the bus by the Ravens for cheating as well. The old adage "If you ain't cheatin you ain't tryin" has to be rampit across professional sports. Baseball has it's cork, pine tar and nail files. Hoops has toe stepping, shirt grabbing and nutt tapping. Hockey... well they are their own bread. Bottom line is the Pandora box is open and like performance enhancing drugs in baseball the bones are going to start falling out of the closet.
Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer both admitted to pushing the limits on rules at both the college and professional level during a pregame show this past weekend with Terry Bradsaw.
Guys like Belichick don't take this stuff without some sort of reciprocal gesture so I suspect that this isn't over between the Pats and Jets. With Brady and Moss quickly becoming the newest 1-2 punch in the NFL I think the best they NE could do is win 14+ games and get home field on their way to another Superbowl. What would NYJ have left to do? Trade for TO? Eric Mangini has already proven he has to resort to copycat tactics to try and edge a win from his late mentor... so copying the Moss signing by going out and getting TO sounds like a NY move to me...

Week Two - Time Flies!
After the first week of the NFL I was still a bit unsure of what was going on. Now that we are pretty much done with week 2 (I am watching a lame MNF game as I write) it is pretty clear that a few things are starting to take shape:
1.) Norv Turner has taken the luster out of the San Diego Charger offence. LT has a lack of maturity that was beginning to show at the end of last season with the loss against NE and shined last night as he sulked on the side lines after he and his teammates got embarrassed on national TV. I love watching LT run, but stop crying and run! Where is Marty when you need him... oh yeah the GM couldn't get along with him.
2.) Oakland Raiders, Houston Texans and Green Bay Packers have all improved and have a chance to do something. Oakland has learned to block over the summer and LJ is running like 2005, Green in Houston's backfield is setting up the pass for Schaub and Andre and Packer corners are shutting teams down enough to keep Brett close enough to give them a chance. All are in weak divisons so who knows how thing will pan out.
3.) Seattle is over rated and age is starting to set in. The WR core is a group of re-used, re-issued talent. Alexander has to prove he isn't done and Holmgren is the mayor of that city in the movie Ground Hog's day. The act is getting old.
4.) Indianapolis Colts, New England Patriots and the Dallas Cowboys are the real deal. I never want my team to play these guys. Scoring at will is something you saw back in the days of Young and Rice or the "greatest show on turf" was in their prime.
5.) Chicago Bears, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New Orleans Saints are Dr. Jeckle - Mr. Hyde teams. You'll never know who is going to show up on Sunday. Arizona Cardinals might fit in here too.
6. ) Kansas City Chiefs and Atlanta Falcons are just bad bad teams. KC has a chance one their running game gets going, but Atlanta... not sure what's going to help them.
Get Well Kevin Everett! Get Well!

We are Vick-less!
Where is Michael Vick? I have gotten a few emails asking where Michael Vick is on the site. After all this is supposed to be a news site how come I don’t have the biggest news story of 2007?
Well I did. He was the #1 story for weeks but as soon as the NFL suspended him indefinitely I removed him. It is pretty obvious that he isn’t going to play this season and any of the news feeds I was getting was nothing more than sensationalized stories without much value as far as the impact on NFL goes.
My take on the whole thing is this. Dog fighting is illegal so it is pretty cut and dry and he has admitted his guilt. Let him get due process and pay his dept to society. Once that is completed and he still has some talent left and wants to still play I am sure the Al Davis’ of the NFL will put a contract in front of him. And that is fine. DO the crime and do the time. After that he should have the same opportunities as the next guy.
Personally, I wouldn’t want him on my team. There just isn’t something right with a person that will slam a dog against a the ground, tree or what ever it was. There just has be some bad wiring up there somewhere. Now I have herd numerous arguments comparing dog fighting to hunting, or stating that it is just part of his culture both of which are a bunch of bull.
First of all dog fighting takes place with a domesticated animal, meaning the species can not survive with out the nurture of human beings. These animals rely on our care and nurturing for survival. So dog fighting is an exploitation of the species.
Hunting wild animals is a heavily regulated event where the harvesting of the animal and the ways to go about it are clearly defined by hunting regulation. You can not harvest and animal by slamming them to the ground or electrocuting them. You have to use a specific method with the intent of a swift and quick kill. The harvesting is also a way to keep herds to a sustainable level so that the non-harvested animals live heather and at a higher standard. It is argued without hunting wild populations would exceed sustainable population and famine, disease and even extinctions are all possibilities. Also don’t forget hunting probably doesn’t produce mass graves of unused carcasses. Hunting usually results in a meal on someone plate.
As far as culture argument goes it is more ridicules than the hunting comparison… You could argue that drive buys the culture of gang bangers or child sex tourism is part of cultures in Thailand, Russia and Mexico. All of which are just horrible inhuman events. So making the argument that it was part of his up bringing and culture is pathetic.
So I have taken Vick out of the database and he will remain out until he gets back between the lines. So if you know anyone that is sick of hearing about the Vick story tell them about Rosterwatcher.com The Vickless site…

The First Post
Well I have had this site for three years now and I pretty much kept it the same as far as content goes. This season I am going to write a few posts a week with my take on the weekly news of the NFL.
My Bio...
I have been playing Fantasy football since the late 1980's. Those where the days that you would go down to the news stand and buy Monday's USAToday and hit the box scores with pen and paper in hand. I also happened to be a bartender at the time and ran 10-15 leagues per season. It was a great way to fill up the bar stools and it always meant I had a room full of fantasy "experts" to discuss the latest strategies and believe me I have heard them all!
I have a media room with three televisions, direcTV, NFL Ticket, MLB Pass and three Tivos. As I write this NYY are betting the Redsox, Tampa is eating up Baltimore and the Charges are beating the Cardinals in the 4th. Sometimes I have days where I take in four MLB games. If I ever get divorced it will be in October because between the NFL kicking off and MLB going into play-offs my wife thinks I am nuts. The only thing that saves me each year is that she also like sports and my birthday is in October and I think she just doesnt have the heart to pull the trigger.
Why did I build this site?
I have been web developer by trade for years but my true passion is for sports. This site was built with the idea that there had to be an easy way to find out information about my fantasy players. After searching the web for the best site and paying $29.95 for several memberships I still had to check out several sites to find out if my guy practiced on Thursday or not...
About this time RSS started taking the internet by storm and News Readers where all the storm. I was pumped I had my reader loaded up with the RSS feeds for every major newspaper in every NFL city. Then I added ESPN, FOX, CBS and dozens more.
Opening up my reader everyday and updating my headlines started to become a process. Once I had everything synced for the day I still had to dig through headline after headline searching for the news on the player I needed to know about. That was when the idea was born! I need to write a site that would match up these headlines with the players I wanted to watch. These player where on my fantasy roster, hence....Rosterwatcher.com
